As the chip only has one fire button and 2 other buttons (not 3), the fire button has a dual function as "fire" or "select".
You use the up/down button to move to the square you want to change and while it is still highlighted, you press the fire button (which now acts as 'select'), make changes and then press the fire button again or let the time run out.
So, NO marking = 'FIRE'. Highlighted field = 'SELECT'.
For toggles, such as repeat on/off, highlight the item and press the fire button.
